CES 2026: Alienware unveils Aurora 16X compact gaming laptop

At CES 2026, Alienware announced the Aurora 16X gaming laptop — a more compact model below the flagship Area-51 series, but still equipped with modern Intel Core Ultra HX processors and NVIDIA RTX 50-series mobile graphics cards.

The Aurora 16X is a compact gaming notebook that’s more compact than the flagship Area-51 series, but features state-of-the-art Intel Core Ultra HX processors and NVIDIA RTX 50-series mobile graphics cards.

Alienware Aurora 16X can be equipped with Intel Core Ultra 5, 7, or 9 series HX processors combined with GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 5070 notebook graphics cards. The maximum power of the graphics gas pedal is limited to 115 watts, and Dynamic Boost technology allows an additional 15 watts depending on the configuration. Cooling is handled by the proprietary Cryo-Chamber system, which includes two fans, copper heat pipes, and multiple vents to maintain consistent performance under load.

The laptop features a 16-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, 240Hz refresh rate and 0.2ms response time. The screen is VESA ClearMR 9000 certified, supports DisplayHDR True Black 500, covers 120% of the DCI-P3 color space, and delivers peak brightness up to 620 nits in HDR mode. It also includes software to protect the matrix from burn-in.

Aurora 16X supports up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM and PCIe Gen 4 NVMe drives, including dual SSD configurations in RAID 0 mode. The port set includes Thunderbolt 4, USB-C with DisplayPort support, HDMI 2.1 with direct connection to a discrete graphics card, USB-A ports, and an RJ-45 Ethernet connector. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

The laptop weighs about 2.66 pounds and has a battery capacity of — 90Wh. Power is supplied via a proprietary 180W or 280W unit depending on the graphics card configuration, with USB-C charging available separately. The chassis features an anodized aluminum lid and bottom panel, a keyboard with single-zone RGB backlighting and 1.4mm key travel, and a redesigned hinge that lets you open the notebook with one hand.
