IKEA prepares to launch two Matter-enabled Varmblixt smart lights
IKEA plans to launch two new smart lights in the Varmblixt series in the second half of 2026. The new products build on the success of the iconic doughnut-shaped light fixture, created in collaboration with designer Sabine Marcelis and introduced in 2023.
The first new product will be a smart version of the Varmblixt LED wall and table lamp. Unlike the previous model with an orange glass body, the updated version will get a frosted white glass surface. The built-in light source will support twelve preset colors with a smooth transition from white to pink, turquoise and yellow shades. The fixture will be able to connect to the IKEA Dirigera hub, allowing users to customize the light color and brightness level.

The second device will be the Varmblixt smart pendant light. It will retain the overall design of the existing LED version, but will have enhanced light control capabilities. The new model will seamlessly change between warm and cool white light, adapting to the atmosphere of the room.
The two smart lights will come with an IKEA Bilresa remote control and support the Matter standard. This will ensure compatibility with various smart home ecosystems and simplify integration with third-party devices.
