Realme reverts back to being a sub-brand of Oppo
Structural changes are continuing within former conglomerate BBK Electronics, and the next step is the return of Realme to Oppo’s sub-brand status. This is reported by Chinese publication Leifeng.com, citing internal sources at Oppo. According to the published information, the founder and CEO of Realme Sky Lee will retain his current responsibilities and continue to lead the Realme brand, but within the management structure of Oppo.
It is reported that Oppo intends to strengthen internal collaboration between the Oppo, Realme and OnePlus brands, as well as improve resource management efficiency and accelerate Oppo’s global expansion. In the new organizational model, Oppo will act as the parent brand, while OnePlus and Realme will remain complementary sub-brands with their own marketing strategies and positioning.

The change will not affect plans to release new Realme devices — all planned products will be released on time. However, Realme will be integrated into Oppo’s after-sales service system, which includes more than 5,000 physical service and retail outlets across China.
Remember, Realme was initially launched as a sub-brand of Oppo in May 2018, but was promoted as a standalone company later that year. The BBK Electronics conglomerate, which included Oppo, vivo, OnePlus, iQOO and Realme, finally ceased to exist in 2023. It was replaced by separate companies Oppo, vivo and imoo, which specializes in children’s smart watches.
