Batteries are probably the fastest evolving component in smartphones today — and OnePlus has clearly proved it by introducing two models with 9000 mAh batteries. And we’re not talking about bulky devices: the smartphones are only 8.5 mm thick and weigh — 215 grams.

OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V are similar in many ways. The Turbo 6 is positioned as the more premium version and costs from 2,300 yuan for the 12/256GB configuration, while the Turbo 6V is more affordable and starts at 1,900 yuan for the 8/256GB variant. There is a 200 yuan discount for early buyers. More detailed pricing for the Chinese market can be found below by source.

The main difference between the models — is performance. The OnePlus Turbo 6 is focused on maximum power and features a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor along with a number of supporting chips. The Fengchi Game Kernel allows you to run games at up to 165 frames per second, fully unleashing the power of the display. The smartphone also features the G1 Wi-Fi enhancement chip and a separate touch controller with a polling rate of up to 330Hz.

Turbo 6V is powered by Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. It has a touch processing chip, but lacks the gaming and Wi-Fi boosters of the older model. That said, the cooling system remains impressive, with a large evaporation chamber and multiple layers of heat sinks, just like the more expensive variant.

Despite the similarities, the Turbo 6 is clearly superior to the younger model in terms of «stuffing». It comes equipped with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The Turbo 6V is limited to 12GB of LPDDR4X and a UFS 3.1 drive, though maximum storage also goes up to 512GB.

The two smartphones get 6.78-inch OLED displays with 1272p+ resolution and 10-bit color reproduction. The Turbo 6’s screen supports ProXDR, HDR Vivid and Xreal certification, and refreshes at up to 165Hz. The Turbo 6V has a refresh rate of 144Hz. Both models have a maximum brightness of 1800 nits, DC Dimming and high-frequency PWM at 3840 Hz.

The batteries are noteworthy, with a 9000mAh capacity combined with 80W SuperVOOC fast charging support. When using a PPS charger, power is limited to 55W.

OnePlus says the Turbo 6 can provide up to 10.6 hours of gaming or 22.5 hours of watching short videos on a single charge. The Turbo 6V shows similar results — 10.5 hours of gaming and up to 25.6 hours of TikTok viewing. Both smartphones can also work as external battery packs thanks to 27W reverse charging.

The Turbo 6V can also be used as an external battery thanks to its 27W reverse charging.

The cameras look pretty modest for this class of device. The 50MP main module with an aperture of f/1.88 features optical stabilization and supports 4K video capture at 60fps. The 16MP front camera with an aperture of f/2.4 records video in 1080p at 30 frames per second. The system is rounded out only by a secondary 2-megapixel camera on the back.

The interface and wireless technology selection is average. A USB-C 2.0 port is used, which may disappoint some users. The Turbo 6 gets Wi-Fi 7, while the Turbo 6V is limited to Wi-Fi 6. Both smartphones support Bluetooth with aptX Adaptive, LDAC and LHDC 5.0 codecs. There’s no 3.5mm headphone jack and no microSD card slot.

Water protection is implemented at a high level: IP66, IP68, and IP69 standards are claimed, including resistance to hot water jets. There’s no information about the screen’s protective glass yet. Both models feature an optical fingerprint scanner.

OnePlus Turbo 6 and Turbo 6V are already available for pre-order on Oppo’s Chinese online store. It’s not yet known if these models will appear in the global market, but the company is already prepping the OnePlus Nord 6.
