Dreame has unveiled its first action camera
Dreame has unveiled its first action camera called the Leaptic Cube. The device is in a split-screen format: the compact camera module can be detached from the main unit, which features a 2.27-inch screen and is capable of displaying live images from up to 30 meters away.
The advantage of this design is not only the built-in remote control function, but also the ability to unfold the camera for vlogging. If the design sounds familiar, it does resemble the DJI Osmo Nano. Alternatively, you might also think of the Insta360 Go Ultra — another compact action camera, but with a flip-up screen for filming yourself.
The Insta360 Go Ultra is also a compact action camera, but with a flip-out screen for filming yourself.

Like its competitors, the Dreame Leaptic Cube features a large 1/1.3-inch sensor paired with an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 155-degree field of view and f/2.8 aperture. The sensor has a resolution of 50 megapixels for still photography and a dynamic range of up to 13.5 stops.
The main focus, of course, is on video. The camera can record video in 8K at 30fps or 4K at 60fps, which is already beyond the capabilities of other mini cameras, which are limited to 4K@60fps. A 4K slow motion mode at 120fps is also available.
For color correction users, recording in 10-bit P-Log and HLG profiles is available. The camera also supports 45-degree and 360-degree horizon stabilization modes, which use a gyroscope to keep images steady even when the camera is tilted, albeit with some frame cropping.

A 4nm process chipset is responsible for image processing, stabilization and smart features. AI capabilities include — scene-specific audio enhancements, such as voice enhancement for vlogs or a more balanced mode for concert recording, as well as voice command support for hands-free control.

The camera module comes with 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, while the main screen unit has a microSD card slot for up to 1TB. The camera module itself has a battery life of up to 90 minutes, and when connected to the main body, the total recording time increases to around 200 minutes.
