CES 2026: TCL unveils NxtPaper 70 Pro smartphone

TCL announced the NxtPaper 70 Pro smartphone at CES 2026. The device features the new NxtPaper 4.0 screen technology and is aimed at users who care about eye comfort when reading from a screen.
One of the smartphone’s key features is a separate NxtPaper Key that lets you instantly switch between three display modes: Color Paper, Ink Paper, and Max Ink. The latter puts the screen completely in monochrome mode, minimizing distractions and significantly increasing battery life. TCL claims that in Max Ink mode, the smartphone can last up to seven days in reading mode and up to 26 days in standby mode. Also pre-installed on the device are reading and learning tools including AI Outline, AI Q&A, AI Audiobook, and AI Podcast.

NxtPaper 70 Pro is stylus-enabled and compatible with the optional T Pen. The pressure-sensitive, low-latency stylus lets you take handwritten notes, create AI bullet journals, and use the notes feature when the screen is off.
The smartphone features a 6.78-inch Full HD+ NxtPaper display, certified by TÃœV and SGS for vision protection standards. The screen uses nano-matrix technology to reduce reflections and glare in bright light.

The panel utilizes seven vision care technologies at once, including 3.41% blue light reduction, DC-dimming to eliminate flicker, and an ultra-low minimum brightness of 1 nits for comfortable use in the dark. Circular polarization of light is also used, providing a natural picture and high color accuracy with a ΔE below 1.
Performance is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor combined with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. Additionally, RAM expansion via virtual memory up to 16GB is supported. The cameras feature a 50-megapixel main module with optical stabilization and a 32 MP front camera.
The smartphone has a 5200 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support and IP68 water and dust protection. Additional features include — AI features such as real-time subtitles, in-person translation and Gemini-powered smart search.
Sales of the TCL NxtPaper 70 Pro will start in February 2026. The version with 256GB of storage will cost 339 euros, while the 512GB model — 389 euros. The T Pen stylus and case will be sold separately.
