CES 2026: 8BitDo unveiled the Ultimate 3E controller for Xbox, PC and mobile devices
Late last year, 8BitDo hinted at the imminent release of a new wireless gamepad. The only published image of the device resembled the Ultimate 2 Wireless, but it didn’t have a name at the time — the manufacturer only said it would show its «Pro»-controller at CES 2026.
At the time, the company said it would show its «Pro»-controller at CES 2026.
Now the mystery is out: the new controller is called the 8BitDo Ultimate 3E. It’s designed for Xbox and PC, but it’s also compatible with Apple and Android devices, and it also supports older Xbox One consoles. In fact, the Ultimate 3E inherits a number of features from the Ultimate 2 Wireless, including three pairs of shoulder buttons, TMR sticks, two rear buttons, and a proprietary wireless charging dock.
The Ultimate 3E has been designed to be compatible with the Xbox One, but it’s also compatible with Apple and Android devices, as well as supporting older Xbox One consoles.
Besides that, 8BitDo added RGB backlighting, trigger stroke switches, and six-axis motion sensors. The gyroscopic functions are only available on PCs, though, and the claimed 1000Hz polling rate isn’t supported on Xbox consoles. But the Ultimate 3E has a wider grip angle, which should have a positive effect on ergonomics.

Additional comfort for long gaming sessions is provided by new silicone overlays on the grips. Other differences from the Ultimate 2 Wireless include — greatly expanded customization options. The controller supports interchangeable sticks, crosses, ABXY button modules and even a removable front panel.

Pricing information has not yet been disclosed by 8BitDo, but the company has made it clear that the Ultimate 3E is scheduled for release between April and the end of June 2026.
