One source familiar with the situation said Apple is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with OpenAI. The Cupertino-based company wants to use ChatGPT to bolster some of its artificial intelligence-related features in the upcoming iOS 18.

Some of the sources familiar with the situation said that Apple is in the final stages of negotiations with OpenAI.

The source also says the two companies are in no rush to officially announce the agreement just yet. Earlier leaks said that Apple is also in talks with Google about using its artificial intelligence-powered chatbot Gemini. As such, Apple may still be looking at other options for collaboration.

So far, Apple is still considering other partnership options.

It’s been rumored that Apple will try to put most of the artificial intelligence functionality on its device, letting the silicon built into the device do most of the heavy lifting, with Apple’s data centers taking care of the rest. This will give Apple an advantage over its competitors in terms of speed and privacy.
