Mortal Kombat 1: Van Damme will be Johnny Cage’s skin in the DLC

The first footage of DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 starring Jean-Claude Van Damme has surfaced. Van Damme appears as a special alternate skin for Johnny Cage, which can be unlocked by players who have purchased the game’s Premium Edition.

Van Damme looks like he would have looked in the early ’90s, around the time the first Mortal Kombat was released. The footage was revealed during an interview with series co-creator Ed Boon on First We Feast’s Hot Ones program, in which celebrities eat hot wings while answering questions.

Explaining that the DLC with Van Damme has been in the making for «30 years», Boone said: «When we created the very first game, we set out to make Van Damme: The Arcade Game». Mortal Kombat 1, developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games, will be released on September 19, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
