Galaxy XR gets three new features, including a PC mode

The Galaxy XR platform has gotten a major update, with Samsung and Google adding three new features that improve PC Connect, video calling, and using the device while traveling. The list includes PC Connect, Likeness, and Travel Mode. All features have already started rolling out in the U.S. and South Korea.

PC Connect is the big new feature: It lets you broadcast your PC screen to your headset. You can use the Google app to bring your entire desktop or just a specific app to the virtual display. It’s great for documents, photos and videos, and some games like Cities: Skylines II can be played on a large virtual panel. The Gemini assistant is also available to help analyze game situations and provide hints.

The second feature, Likeness, creates a realistic digital image of the headset wearer. It replicates facial expressions in real time and is used for video calls on Google Meet. You can switch to a stylized Galaxy Avatar if needed. The app is also in the beta stage.

Travel Mode is for traveling: it locks the virtual workspace, preventing the image from shifting in turbulence or traffic. This mode is suitable for watching movies or working on an airplane, and is similar to a similar feature previously implemented in Apple Vision Pro.

Travel Mode is designed for travel: it fixes the virtual workspace without allowing the image to shift in turbulence or traffic.
