The Galaxy S23 series smartphones have started receiving the December security update, which increases the devices’ security and improves some features. While users await the release of Android 15 and the One UI 7.0 shell, Samsung continues to release regular patches for its 2023 flagships.

What’s new in the update?”
The update is available for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy S23 FE. It has initially started rolling out in Europe, but will be available in other regions soon.
The Galaxy S23+ is available in Europe and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
- Security Update:
The update includes fixes from the December 2024 security patch closing vulnerabilities in the Galaxy system. - Auto Blocker feature enhancement:
On the S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra models (except S23 FE), the Auto Blocker feature has received an enhancement. When set to maximum settings, the feature now completely blocks data transfer via the USB port (except for charging).

To install the update:
- Go to Settings → Software Update → Download and Install.
- If you want, you can download the latest firmware from the SamMobile website and install it manually via PC and USB-C cable.
Waiting for One UI 7
Although the launch of the Beta Android 15 and One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S23 series isn’t expected until 2025, a December security patch keeps the devices up to date, improving stability and security.
