Google Pixel 8: Leaked Camera Features

A new leak from a source at Google has given us our first detailed look at the Pixel 8 series cameras. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will get upgraded 50MP main camera sensors with Samsung’s ISOCELL GN2 instead of the ISOCELL GN1 from the Pixel 7 series.
The new leak also specifies that the Pixel 8 will retain Sony’s 12MP IMX386 camera sensor from its predecessor, and the field of view will be slightly wider with a 0.55x zoom ratio this time around compared to 0.67x on the Pixel 7.
Google’s Pixel 8 Pro will get a new 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor for an ultra-wide-angle lens with a 0.49x zoom ratio. The Pro model will also retain Samsung’s 48MP GM5 telephoto lens with a 5x optical zoom. The Pixel 8 Pro will get a new 8×8 time-of-flight (ToF) VL53L8 sensor, which should help with autofocus.

The two Pixel 8 phones will also retain Samsung’s 11MP 3J1 front-facing camera. We’ve also received clarification that the thermometer sensor will be exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro and will use the Melexis MLX90632 body temperature sensor.
As for the camera software, Google’s Pixel 8 series will get a new Adaptive Flash feature that automatically adjusts the intensity of the LED flash to prevent overexposure of photos and videos in low-light conditions. Scene segmentation — another new feature that will allow the artificial intelligence to selectively process different parts of images. Movies in cinematic mode will also benefit from the new bokeh blur selection tool.
