CES 2026: GameSir revealed the Pocket Taco portrait game controller
GameSir has rebranded its Pocket 1 mobile controller, which will now be sold as Pocket Taco. The device is already available for pre-order on the manufacturer’s official website, and shipments will begin on March 15. In addition, a version with a transparent case will soon be available on Kickstarter.
After launching the G8 Plus MFi controller, GameSir unveiled another mobile gaming device, this time focused exclusively on portrait-oriented gaming. The Pocket 1, now known as the Pocket Taco, is a clip-on controller that attaches to the bottom of a smartphone and is designed for retro gaming. Visually, it resembles half of a classic Game Boy, with the top of the smartphone’s display acting as the screen.

The controller was first shown at the Tokyo Game Show in September. Unlike most telescoping controllers designed for landscape mode, the Pocket Taco only supports portrait orientation. GameSir claims compatibility with Android smartphones and other “supported devices,” which could potentially include iPhones, as the connection is via Bluetooth.

The controller comes in a classic gray color that references the original Game Boy. It features Start and Select buttons, a similarly designed crossbar, ABXY membrane buttons, and triggers and bumpers with tactile switches on the back. All buttons can be reassigned via the proprietary GameSir app, and a keyboard emulation mode is available.

Pocket Taco slides out to accommodate different sized smartphones and locks securely in place with a clip. The bottom of the case has a cutout for charging your phone while you play. Built-in battery capacity of 600 mAh provides autonomous operation of the controller, while the device remains compact and lightweight – its weight is 62.2 grams, and the dimensions are equal to 78 × 71 × 21 mm. Additional features include a turbo mode and support for G-Touch and V-Touch.
The Pocket Taco already has competitors in the market. For example, 8BitDo announced a similar portrait controller FlipPad with a similar button layout, but without shoulder keys and with a wired USB-C connection. GameSir’s new product will also compete with devices like the Abxylute M4 Snap-On Controller and MCON Magnetic Controller.
