CES 2026: Motorola unveiled the Moto Sound Flow portable speaker

Motorola has long been in the portable speaker market and has previously released several models, including the ROKR series, which includes the ROKR 300, for example. However, the new Moto Sound Flow is markedly different from all of the brand’s previous devices. While not a full-fledged smart speaker, the Sound Flow is comparable in class to the Sonos Roam 2 and offers a number of features that even the Sonos solution doesn’t have.

Moto Sound Flow is housed in a tall cylindrical case with a flat top panel surrounded by an LED ring and a flat base that mounts to a charging dock. According to Motorola, the case is covered in fabric with a refined twill texture. The speaker will be available in Pantone Carbon (black) and Pantone Warm Taupe (brown) colors.

The device houses a 20W bass driver, a 10W tweeter, and two passive radiators. The speaker uses Sound by Bose technology, similar to that used in the Moto Buds Loop. The top panel has touch-sensitive control buttons, and there are four microphones for hands-free calling. The device is protected from dust and water according to IP67 standard. For autonomy is responsible for the battery capacity of 6 000 mAh, providing up to 12 hours of work. Charge via the included docking station or the USB-C port on the back.

Moto Sound Flow stands out not only for its hardware, but also for its feature set. In addition to Bluetooth 5.0, the speaker has Wi-Fi 5, allowing you to stream music directly from Spotify. Apple AirPlay and Google Cast are also supported.

Separate attention should be paid to the presence of Ultra-Wideband (UWB), which is the basis for three functions at once. The first — Proximity Sensing, which automatically detects the presence of a UWB-enabled smartphone nearby and transmits the current call or content being played to the speaker. The second — Dynamic Stereo, which works in a multi-speaker system and adjusts the left and right channel allocation based on the position of the UWB-enabled smartphone. The third feature — Room Shift — also requires multiple speakers and allows playback to be automatically shifted to the speaker closest to the user’s smartphone.

The Moto Sound Flow will be available with a branded app for Android and iOS. With it, users will be able to manage speaker settings, connections, and quickly transfer playback from a smartphone or headphones to Sound Flow.

Pricing and launch date information hasn’t yet been revealed by Motorola. However, the company will have to price it competitively, given that the Sonos Roam 2 now sells for about $179.
