Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida shared the news during the PAX West panel, and also announced a major update for the PlayStation 5 version of the game.

«It’s been just over two months since the release of Final Fantasy XVI, and we’ve received a tremendous amount of feedback from players around the world», — Yoshida said in a pre-recorded video. «The development team and I are also watching your videos and streams, paying special attention to what everyone thinks of Final Fantasy XVI. We’ve put everything we have into making this game, so we’re very pleased to see such a diverse response. As a token of our sincere gratitude, we’re releasing a free update, available for download today. »

Yoshida noted that the update adds new controller layouts, a weapon skin feature that lets you change the appearance of Clive’s weapon, and alternate outfits for Clive, Jill, Torgal, Ambrosia and Joshua.

Final Fantasy 16 was released for the PS5 in June, and Square Enix said it will remain an exclusive for Sony’s console until at least the end of the calendar year. Before the game’s release, Yoshida said that «eventually» he’d like to release a PC version of the game.
