Apple continues to expand the geographic availability of its Vision Pro augmented reality headset. After recently launching the device in South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, the company has confirmed that the Vision Pro will go on sale in Taiwan before the New Year’s holiday.

According to a press release on Apple Taiwan’s official website, the Vision Pro headset will go on sale on December 17, 2024. Pre-orders will begin on December 5, exclusively through the company’s website. Apple is actively promoting the new headset on its revamped Taiwanese homepage.

In Taiwan, the Vision Pro starts at NT$119,900 (about $3,670), which is slightly higher than the price in the U.S., where the headset costs $3,499 for the base version with 256GB of storage. There are also options available with 512GB and 1TB of storage. As in other countries, users will be able to purchase ZEISS optical inserts for use with the Vision Pro.

Vision Pro offers a unique way to interact with the digital and physical world. The device provides:

Slow launch in global markets

The Vision Pro’s global launch has been slow, reminiscent of the HomePod’s promotional strategy. The device launched in China, Japan, and Singapore in June 2024, followed by Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the U.K. in July.

According to analysts, Apple plans to produce 600,000 Vision Pro devices by the end of 2024. The company’s internal inventory is adequate to meet current demand, making the Vision Pro a niche product.
