Xiaomi is preparing a super-powered version of the YU7 Ultra – 1,548 hp and acceleration under 2.5 seconds

After the release of the hyper-fast SU7 Ultra sedan, the successful launch of the YU7, and the recent announcement of the big YU9 crossover, you’d think Xiaomi would take a break. But it looks like vacation is not about them. Last week, during the YU7 unveiling, one question came up most often: will there be an Ultra version? At the time, Xiaomi dodged a direct answer, saying it was focused on production and fulfilling 300,000 orders for the base model.

At the time, Xiaomi said that it would be taking a break from the Ultra version of the YU7.

The answer, as usual, was found not at the official presentation, but on the Internet. The first photos of the YU7 Ultra, a powerful but restrained looking electric crossover, have hit the web. It looks set to become the fastest production SUV in the world, setting a new benchmark for “family rockets”.

In the images, you can notice that the design hasn’t gotten aggressive: no spoilers or wings. However, the widened wheel arches indicate a larger track and the fitting of 21-inch wheels from the SU7. Through the spokes you can see the same ceramic brakes with massive six-piston calipers.

The rear end is almost identical to the standard YU7, except for larger air intakes at the bottom of the bumper. The roof spoiler is longer but blended into the overall silhouette without any harsh lines.

Under the hood is the three-motor powertrain already known from the SU7 Ultra: 1,548 hp, 1,770 N-m of torque and a 93.7 kWh battery. Xiaomi will probably use carbon fiber body parts to reduce the 2,400kg weight, but the crossover is unlikely to be able to fully compete with the lighter SU7 Ultra.

Till then, acceleration to 100 km/h will reportedly take less than 2.5 seconds and top speed will be limited at around 300 km/h. Xiaomi is expected to take the YU7 Ultra to the Nürburgring circuit to set a new record.

As for the price, we can focus on the SU7 Ultra: the cost will be about twice as much as the base configuration. That’s around €80,000 – against the backdrop of hypercars with million-dollar price tags, the YU7 Ultra looks like an affordable yet incredibly fast SUV. The model is expected to be unveiled near the end of 2025, with first deliveries starting in the second quarter of 2026.
