Google begins rolling out Gemini to the Samsung Galaxy Watch

The new Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic are the first smart watches to have Google Gemini pre-installed out of the box. It’s a marked improvement over the previous Google Assistant. But owners of older models needn’t worry – Gemini now comes to previous devices as well.

Google has officially announced a phased rollout of Gemini for all Wear OS-powered smartwatches from Samsung, as well as brands like Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi, and Google. The update will be available for all models with Wear OS 4 and above, including Galaxy Watch 4, Watch 5, Watch 6, Watch 7 and Watch Ultra.

Although Samsung said back in May 2025 that Gemini support would be coming “soon,” the speed of the launch is truly surprising – the functionality became available the day after a demo at the Galaxy Unpacked event.

Compared to Google Assistant, Gemini offers more natural and lively dialogs, as well as advanced features. It is able to answer more complex questions and perform more advanced tasks. For example, you can ask, “How long and at what temperature should I bake sliced vegetables?” – and get a detailed and accurate answer right on the watch.

The Gemini will also reportedly be able to interact with the watchmaker’s proprietary apps in Wear OS 6. This is the kind of integration Samsung has already demonstrated on the Galaxy Watch 8.
