Sony Xperia 1 VII: all colors have been declassified

Sony is preparing to officially unveil the Xperia 1 VII flagship as early as May 13. Ahead of the announcement, high-quality renders of the device have hit the web, showing off three color variants: black, green, and the returning purple. The smartphone looks almost identical to its predecessor and still uses the brand’s signature elongated form factor.
Focus on cameras: new Shirik and Periscope zoom
As before, Sony is focusing on mobile photography. All cameras are protected by Zeiss T*-coated glass. The main improvement is the ultra-wide-angle camera – now with a sensor that’s 2.1 times larger than the previous generation. The periscope telephoto lens is also retained.

Audio, display and autonomy
Xperia 1 VII gets stereo speakers with improved bass and midrange. It also retains a 3.5mm jack, which is becoming a rarity in 2025. A 5,000mAh battery is responsible for battery life – Sony promises up to two days of battery life. The display, as before, is branded as Bravia and has two auto-brightness sensors on the front and back.
Flagship hardware and long-term support
The smartphone runs on Android 15 and will get four years of OS updates, as well as six years of security updates. According to a leak from Geekbench, the device is built on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip (listed as Snapdragon 8 Elite) and packs 12GB of RAM.
