Skoda has revealed the design project of the “new Favorit”

Czech company Skoda Auto has unveiled a concept car based on the legendary Favorit hatchback. The project is made in the form of sketches and 3D-models – serial production of the car is not planned. Skoda designers Ludmila Slavova and David Stingle were engaged in creation of a new look. The work was part of the program, timed to the 130th anniversary of the company and aimed at rethinking the iconic models of the past.

The Favorit was produced between 1987 and 1994 and was a landmark car for Skoda. It was the brand’s first front-wheel drive production car and the last one produced during the socialist period. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989 and the subsequent division of Czechoslovakia into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1992, Skoda became part of the Volkswagen Group in 1994.

Concept Design Features
The development of the new Favorit took Skoda designers about 120 hours. The concept is conceived as a compact, low-cost crossover-type electric car. The exterior of the car is inspired by the classic hatchback Favorit: recognizable vertical slots air intake in the front bumper, laconic forms of the body, trapezoidal headlights, replaced by narrow LED strips. There is a nostalgia for the past in the design, but the concept is made in a modern style.

Skoda Auto and brand history
Skoda Auto traces its history back to the company Laurin & Klement, founded in 1895 as a manufacturer of bicycles and motorcycles. In 1925, the company became part of the Skoda Group, and since 1994 it has been part of the Volkswagen Group. The company decided to celebrate its 130th anniversary by creating conceptual designs inspired by iconic models of the past.
