Vivo S50 Pro Mini unveiled: compact flagship with powerful hardware and a big battery

After weeks of rumors and teasers, Vivo has finally unveiled its new compact flagship. The Vivo S50 Pro Mini has officially debuted in China, getting top-of-the-line hardware and flagship-level performance. At the same time, the novelty is positioned not just as a powerful compact smartphone, but as a balanced premium device.
Vivo has seriously redesigned the S50 Pro Mini. Unlike the previous generation, the camera is now positioned horizontally on a raised module, visually reminiscent of the solutions used in the iPhone Air lineup. The back panel is made of flat glass, and the body frame is made of aircraft metal. The smartphone is only 8.1 mm thick and weighs — about 192 grams. It is also claimed to be IP68 and IP69 water and dust resistant.
On the front, there’s a flat 6.31-inch display. It’s an LTPO AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution (2640 × 1216 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate, vision protection features, 94.38% screen-to-body ratio, peak brightness up to 5000 nits, 4320Hz PWM tuning, and an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner embedded in the screen.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor is responsible for the performance, which is noticeably superior to the predecessor Vivo S30 Pro Mini with Dimensity 9300+ chip. Unlike the usual logic where the compact model is the base model and the more expensive version gets a bigger screen, Vivo has made it the S50 Pro Mini to be the most premium variant in the lineup.
The chipset is complemented by up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Despite its compact size, the smartphone gets a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W fast wired charging and 40W wireless charging. Other features include — stereo speakers, a linear vibration motor along the X-axis, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7 and Android 16 operating system with OriginOS 6 shell out of the box.
Vivo has emphasized more than just performance. Like the last generation, the smartphone features a versatile camera system, with the sensors remaining the same. The 50MP main module (1/1.56-inch, OIS, f/1.57) is complemented by a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscopic telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and optical stabilization, as well as an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 110° field of view, autofocus, and f/2.2 aperture. The front camera is also rated at 50MP and is suitable for selfies and video calls.
Vivo S50 Pro Mini is available in China in three colors: Confession White, Inspiration Purple and Deep Space Black. The smartphone is available in multiple memory configurations with the following prices:
