New Jeep Cherokee: first photos and details of the premiere

Jeep has unveiled the first images of the next-generation Cherokee SUV. The sixth-generation model will debut in late 2025 and will be “all-new.” According to Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf, the new product will be a notable step forward in everything from size to equipment and technology.

The new Cherokee will get hybrid and electric versions

Although Jeep continues to use the Cherokee name, the model will be very different from its predecessor, which was produced for nearly 10 years – until February 2023. The new SUV is expected to get modern powertrains: hybrid or all-electric. Similar to the Grand Cherokee, a PHEV system based on a 2.0-liter turbo engine may appear in the range.

The previous Cherokee was equipped with gasoline and diesel engines, including the V6 3.2 Pentastar. The new generation shifts the focus to clean technology, following the overall direction of the Jeep brand.

Platform and Expectations

There’s no official information about the platform of the new Cherokee yet, but given the company’s strategy, we can assume the use of an architecture adapted for hybrid and electric systems. The recently unveiled Jeep Compass, for example, is built on the Citroen C5 Aircross and Peugeot 3008 platforms and offers a range of engine choices, from a 1.2-liter turbo mild hybrid engine (145 hp) to hybrid and electric versions with outputs ranging from 195 to 375 hp.
