The thriller about a secret agent, set in a world in the not-too-distant future, will be the first new installment in the series since Rare’s Perfect Dark Zero was released on Xbox 360 in 2005.
Although the project was announced in 2020, nothing has been known about it since then after several years of setbacks that have stalled development. These reportedly included a collaboration with Certain Affinity, which worked on the game from 2019 to 2021, and a large staff turnover at The Initiative.
The game was not announced in 2020.

Sources describe the game as a story-driven FPS combining combat and espionage, spy gadgets and some experimental motion technology. The project is reportedly heading in the right direction, even if there is still a long way to go.
