Blizzard has canceled this year’s BlizzCon

Blizzard has announced on their official blog that they have canceled their own conference this year. It is likely that this conference will no longer take place. It is known that the decision was not an easy one. In the near future the company will share information about the World of Warcraft: The War Within add-on and the first Diablo IV add-on. Apparently, the company doesn’t have many projects to talk about right now, so this year’s BlizzCon is a good time to save money.
After careful deliberation over the last year, we at Blizzard have decided not to hold BlizzCon in 2024. This decision was not made lightly, as BlizzCon remains a special event for all of us, and we know that many of you look forward to it. While we are taking a different approach this year, and we have looked at different event formats in the past, rest assured that we are more committed than ever to bringing BlizzCon back in future years.

In the next few months, Blizzard will reveal more details about this year’s presentations, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and Diablo IV’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred. However, it seems Blizzard will be coming to Gamescom.
We’re also looking forward to the Overwatch Champions Series stops at Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm. And we’re excited to plan several global Warcraft 30th Anniversary events in addition to in-game celebrations in Warcraft games throughout 2024. While these events are different from BlizzCon, we will use all of our creativity and imagination to ensure that they carry the same spirit of celebration and togetherness.

These events — along with several industry-wide live streams where Blizzard will keep us up to date on what’s happening in the gaming universes — will capture the essence of what makes the Blizzard community so special.
