Huawei to lead the global wearable devices market in Q1 2025

Huawei led the global wearable electronics market in the first quarter of 2025, overtaking competitors including Xiaomi, Apple and Samsung. This is according to data from analyst firm IDC.

According to the published report, Huawei shipped 10 million units of smart watches and fitness bracelets to the global market between January and March, giving it a global lead. The Watch GT 5, Fit 3 and Watch Ultimate models were the most in demand. Compared to the same period the previous year, the company’s sales increased by more than 3 million units, leading to an increase in its global market share from 17% to 21.9%.

Xiaomi came in second place with 8.7 million units sold, representing 19% of the market and 42.6% more than last year. Apple came in third with 7 million units shipped and a market share of 15.5%, showing a 37.2% growth. However, in terms of shipments, especially in China, the U.S. company lost ground to its competitors.

Samsung took the fourth position with 3.4 million devices shipped and a 7.5% market share, while Garmin rounded out the top five with 2.1 million wearable gadgets and a 4.7% share. Despite maintaining their positions, neither Samsung nor Garmin showed as much growth as the market leaders.

Together, the global wearable devices market grew at a CAGR of 10.5% to reach 45.57 million devices in the first quarter of 2025. Of this volume, 17.62 million came from China, which saw a growth of 37.6%.
