3 devices Apple won’t unveil during ‘high-profile announcement week’

Apple is gearing up for a “week of high-profile announcements” starting today, as announced by the company’s marketing chief Greg Joswiak. The main event is expected to be the release of the first Macs with the M4 processor. However, along with that, many fans of the company are hoping for the announcement of other devices as well. Let’s find out what Apple won’t be unveiling this week.

MacBook Air to M4

The MacBook Air remains one of the most popular models, but for now there won’t be an update with the M4 chip for it. The last update to the MacBook Air with the M3 processor was in March of this year, and Apple is predicted to stick to a similar schedule next year. We’re not expected to see a new M4 chip for the MacBook Air until March 2024 at the earliest. The exception is the iPad Pro, which already runs on an M4 chip and could arguably be considered a “computer” in the broader sense.

Mac with M4 Ultra chip

The Ultra chip family for Apple’s high-performance computers is still based on the M2 generation. That goes for both the Mac Studio and Mac Pro, which are scheduled to be updated in 2025, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. A Mac Studio with an M4 Ultra chip is expected between March and June, and a new Mac Pro could be released between June and next fall.

Budget iPad

Many were expecting an update to the iPad 11 lineup this year, especially with the possibility of Apple Intelligence integration. However, the release was delayed, and now, according to analyst Ross Young and Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the release of a budget iPad with a new panel won’t begin until next spring. Shipment of screen panels for iPad 11 will begin this month, which also points to a possible launch in the spring.

And that’s not the case.

So while 2024 promised to be a year of updates to all iPad models, it looks like the budget iPad won’t make it out until later this year.

And what’s in store for us in the spring?”

.

In addition to the devices listed above, we can expect releases of the iPhone SE 4, iPad Air, AirTag 2, and Apple’s first smart home display in spring 2024. These products have been planned for a spring launch from the beginning.

All of these products are expected to be released in the spring.

As a reminder, Apple plans to begin selling the MacBook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac with the M4 processor this week. In addition to these announcements, iOS 18.1 will be released with the first Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, and iPhone 16 Pro.
