Google Photos celebrates 10th anniversary and updates editor with AI

In honor of its tenth anniversary, Google Photos has revamped its editor, making it even smarter with artificial intelligence. The app now has new tools previously only available in the Pixel 9, like automatic framing and the ability to add or change elements in a photo – like fall leaves or grass. These changes look so realistic that Google has started watermarking such images as AI-generated.

There’s also a new photo enhancement feature: it automatically performs three edits (like sharpening or removing objects), and you choose your favorite result. It’s conveniently located next to the familiar «Enhance» and «Dynamic» buttons.
Sharing albums has also been made easier – you can now generate a QR code for quick access. The update for Android will be out in June, and for iOS a little later this year.
