Moondrop has unveiled the Skyland open planar headphones with 100mm drivers and a carbon fiber headband
Moondrop has officially released its new Skyland open headphones, aimed at lovers of high-quality and detailed sound. The model features large 100mm planar drivers, aluminum earcups and premium construction materials.
Moondrop’s new Skyland headphones are designed to deliver the highest quality and detail in sound.
The Skyland utilizes Moondrop’s proprietary Full Drive technology. It increases the effective area of the diaphragm exposed to the magnetic field compared to traditional planar headphones. According to the company, this reduces distortion in the upper frequencies and improves the naturalness of timbres. The diaphragm is only 500 nanometers thick.
To maintain «airy» and transparent sound, the drivers are covered by a thin metal mesh that protects them with little to no effect on their acoustic properties. The headphones have a claimed frequency range of —8Hz to 34kHz, with harmonic distortion of less than 0.05% at 1kHz.
Moondrop Skyland feature 3.5mm jacks in each cup. A detachable cable with a 4.4mm balanced output is included, as well as adapters from 4.4mm to 6.35mm and to XLR, making the headphones compatible with a variety of fixed audio systems and amplifiers.
The body is made of CNC-machined aluminum, and the ear cushions are made of soft sheepskin leather. The headband is made of carbon fiber, and underneath is a 3D-printed floating padded pad that distributes weight evenly and enhances comfort for extended listening sessions.
