Honor Magic 8 RSR to be unveiled on January 19: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 200MP camera and 7,200mAh battery

Honor has officially confirmed a presentation on January 19, where the Honor Magic 8 Pro compact flagship will be unveiled. Now it has been revealed that a more advanced version — the Honor Magic 8 RSR will debut alongside it.
The published teaser image shows the Magic 8 RSR in purple and black colors. The smartphone gets a redesigned camera unit with a rounded square shape, replacing the hexagonal module of the last generation. While Honor itself hasn’t revealed the specifications of the device yet, almost all the details have already appeared in a leak from Weibo.
According to insider information, the Honor Magic 8 RSR will feature a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution and four-sided curved glass. Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be used as the processor. A large 7,200 mAh battery with support for 120W fast wired charging and wireless — up to 80W is responsible for battery life.

The flagship configuration includes 24GB of RAM and 1TB of onboard storage. The smartphone will run Android 16 with Magic OS 10 shell.
The cameras also live up to the top-of-the-line status of the model. There’s a 50-megapixel front-facing camera on the front. At the back, there’s a triple optical stabilization system:
- 50MP main module with OIS;
- 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera;
- 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.7x optical zoom and OIS;
Other announced features include — an ultrasonic under-screen fingerprint scanner, 3D facial recognition, a separate physical camera button, support for satellite communications, and IP68, IP69, and IP69K body protection.
The Honor Magic 8 RSR is expected to be one of the brand’s most technologically advanced models and will be aimed at users who value maximum performance, autonomy and camera capabilities.
