X Pro (formerly TweetDeck) requires a paid subscription to X Blue

After rebranding to X Pro earlier this month, the service formerly known as TweetDeck now requires a Blue subscription to access it. The change was first announced on July 3, with X noting that «users must be verified» to access TweetDeck. It took more than 30 days for this to take effect, but today you’re already sent to a payment page when you visit the site.

The list of Blue benefits (by the way, naming the subscription after the color most associated with the previous bird-shaped logo probably doesn’t make sense anymore) doesn’t mention X Pro yet:

  • Priority ranking in conversations and search
  • Approximately twice as many posts between ads in your feeds «For You» and «Following You».
  • Add bold and italicized text to your posts
  • Post longer videos and upload 1080p videos
  • All existing Blue features, including edit tweets, bookmark folders and early access to new features
  • Longer posts: Create posts, replies and quotes up to 25,000 characters long
  • .

  • Message editing: Edit a message up to 5 times within 30 minutes.
  • NFT profile pictures
  • .

In the U.S., Blue, which also allows «a share of ad revenue», costs $8 per month or $84 per year. For brand managers, TweetDeck Preview still offers no team features, though access to the «legacy of X Pro» is still provided (from the login page).
