The first Apple Intelligence features appeared back in December 2024 with iOS 18.2, but the promised Siri AI capabilities unveiled at WWDC 2024 have yet to materialize. Now it’s been revealed that Apple isn’t planning to introduce them until nearly two years after they were announced.

Siri will learn how to handle user personal data

One of the major new features will be Siri’s ability to analyze personal data stored in the Mail, Messages, Calendar, Files, Notes, and Photos apps to answer complex user queries. That’s exactly the feature Apple showed in a commercial in the fall of 2024, when a high school student asked Siri to recall the name of a boy she met in a coffee shop and the assistant searched through all available apps to find the information.

The commercial was later pulled after Apple postponed the release of new features. Nevertheless, the scenario shown in it and other similar features will be available in iOS 26.4, which according to Bloomberg will be released in April 2026.

It will be nearly two years from the announcement in June 2024 to the anticipated spring premiere in 2026. During that time, iPhone users, especially those dissatisfied with Siri’s limited capabilities, will be expecting major improvements. Since its debut on the iPhone 4s in 2011, Siri has ceded the lead to Google Assistant and Alexa.
