Audi signs patent licensing agreement with Oppo

Oppo’s head of product Pete Lau announced today that the company has entered into a global licensing agreement with Audi.

Audi will now be able to use Oppo’s patents related to key 5G technologies. As Lau noted in his X post, the agreement «brings together wireless innovation and automotive technology, improving connectivity and making driving smarter».

The agreement will allow Audi to use Oppo’s patents related to key 5G technologies.

Similar licensing arrangements to the underlying patents are quite common. And it’s important to understand: this does not mean that Oppo and Audi are going to jointly develop cars or any devices.

In essence, Audi will simply pay Oppo to use its compulsory 5G patents and will be able to use those technologies in its cars.
