Xiaomi CEO steps down
From April 2010 until now, Lei Jun served as the CEO of Xiaomi. However, he clearly lost interest in smartphones, firmware and gadgets as he decided to focus on a new direction and give up his position as the company’s CEO.
He was also the CEO of Xiaomi.
Lei Jun announced his intention to change jobs via his Weibo social media account. He plans to fully dedicate himself to the automotive sector at Xiaomi. Here’s his message:
“The Xiaomi SU7 is undergoing full-scale road tests across the country, and we are currently working intensively to make final preparations for its launch. So that I can focus more on the automotive business, the company has decided that Group President Lu Weibin will also serve as the general manager of the Xiaomi brand, and he will also be the keynote speaker at future Xiaomi smartphone launches, the first of which will be the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.
While doing so, please rest assured that the cell phone business will always remain a priority for Xiaomi, and I will continue to devote ample energy to it. Thank you for your support!”
Since Lu Weibin is now in charge of the Xiaomi brand, Wang Teng has been chosen to replace him as the new head of the Redmi brand.
The company thus confirmed the imminent release of a debut electric car, though no dates have been announced yet, and announced the upcoming Xiaomi 14 Ultra flagship smartphone.
