YouTube will release a native app for Apple Vision Pro

YouTube plans to release a native app for visionOS, which runs Apple’s Vision Pro augmented reality glasses. Before releasing the app, YouTube will optimize its website for use in Safari on Vision Pro. The decision to develop the app may be related to the launch of YouTube’s unofficial third-party app and the headset’s brisk sales.

The website already offers an extensive library of VR content and 360-degree videos, but support on the Vision Pro has yet to be confirmed. And Apple is currently focused on delivering the best spatial media experience, including spatial photos, videos, and 3D movies on Apple TV. In mid-January this year, YouTube representatives stated that they had no intention of releasing a visionOS app. Earlier, it became known that the 2GIS mapping service released the 2GIS Immersive app for the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset.
