Huawei announced a tablet with a record 24GB of RAM
Huawei is banking on huge amounts of RAM in its new devices. It’s already confirmed that the Mate 80 RS and Mate X7 will get 20GB of RAM each. But the company has decided to go even further — along with the smartphones, it will introduce the MatePad Edge 2-in-1 tablet with an incredible 24GB of RAM.
Today, Huawei officially revealed the MatePad Edge. As expected, the tablet supports two modes of operation — standard tablet and laptop. It features a large 14.2-inch OLED screen that offers the space of a full-fledged PC.
Most of the technical details come from a Digital Chat Station insider, who revealed key specs in a post on Weibo. According to him, the top-end version of the MatePad Edge will get 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. The tablet will be powered by «PC-grade» Kirin 9 series chipset and will feature an active cooling system with a fan to keep the temperature stable.

A Soft Light version is also reported, which uses a special display that reduces glare and eye strain.
The MatePad Edge keyboard supports multiple angles, has a 1.8mm key stroke, a Free Touch trackpad with force recognition, and a built-in 65W charging port. It also detects when you switch between PC and tablet modes.
It was previously revealed that a 16/512GB version will be available, and you can choose the tablet in Moonlight Silver and Space Gray colors.
The MatePad Edge succeeds the MateBook E lineup, which was first revealed in 2021. Back then, devices in the series ran Windows, including the MateBook E and MateBook E Go (2022). Now Huawei is dropping that branding and moving the series to HarmonyOS. Thus, the MatePad Edge — Huawei’s first 2-in-1 tablet on HarmonyOS.
The device will be released alongside the Mate 80 smartphones as early as November 25.
