Dell has expanded its lineup of Alienware Area-51 gaming desktops by adding configurations with AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors. The system was originally unveiled at CES 2025 with Intel Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake processors, but AMD-powered variants weren’t available at the time. The updated models are now on sale.

The new version uses the X870E motherboard, and you can choose between Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Ryzen 9 9950X3D as the processor. Both chips feature AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which speeds up access to gaming data and improves performance on cache-sensitive projects. Alienware emphasizes that AMD’s addition — is a direct response to gamers who wanted more top-end processor options.

The design of the Area-51 case remains the same and still focuses on efficient cooling. The system utilizes a positive pressure scheme with two 140mm fans, two 180mm fans, and up to three 120mm fans per inlet. Cold air is directed to the CPU and GPU, while warm air exits through the passive rear ventilation. This solution keeps temperatures stable during long gaming sessions.

In a Ryzen 9 9950X3D configuration, the PC supports up to 200 watts of dedicated CPU power and over 600 watts of dedicated graphics power with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090. Storage capacity is also increased: the system supports up to 12TB with three NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSDs of 4TB each.

Alienware notes that these updates expand the choice of configurations without affecting the underlying architecture of the device. More combinations of AMD and NVIDIA components are expected in the future.

Alienware Area-51 with AMD Ryzen 9000 processors is available now at Alienware.com. Starting price is $4,349.99 for the version with Ryzen 7 9800X3D and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card.
