DJI Avata 360 caught on new leaks with a rotating camera

Fresh images have revealed the design of DJI’s compact drone with a 360-degree rotating camera module. The device will get a dual shooting mode and could cost around $426.

Detailed images of DJI’s upcoming Avata 360 drone have surfaced online. The leak has fully revealed the design of the quadcopter and remote control of the manufacturer’s compact drone.

Unique rotating camera system

Images of the new Avata series drone were posted by X user Igor Bogdanov. The images show a DJI Avata 360 prototype with a rotating camera module – a feature missing even from its main competitor Antigravity A1. The all-around drone debuted recently, and a photo of the Avata 360’s retail packaging hit the web shortly after its release.

The camera rotation mechanism will allow the DJI Avata 360 to offer both 360-degree circular footage and standard front-facing recording for typical FPV flights. The technology is reminiscent of a solution from another popular DJI gadget, the Osmo 360 action camera. In the leaked images, one camera lens is facing inward while the other is looking outward, indicating the flexibility of frame capture. The image on the controller shows a traditional FPV view instead of instant 360-degree stitching, confirming the dual-mode capture functionality.

Technical specifications and price

The Avata 360 will reportedly be able to record video at resolutions up to 8K using two 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors. The pair of large sensors should provide improved low-light performance and extended dynamic range.

Earlier rumors indicated the DJI Avata 360 was positioned as an affordable compact drone with a starting price of about 2988 yuan, which is about $426.
