CES 2025: Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet unveiled

At CES 2025, Asus unveiled an updated version of its ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet that combines portability and performance. The new tablet has received significant improvements in both exterior design and hardware, making it one of the most interesting devices in the gaming tablet segment.
The new tablet is the first of its kind in the gaming tablet segment.
New design and improved components
ROG Flow Z13 2025 retains its recognizable shape with a thickness of just under half an inch and a built-in stand. One striking new feature is an enlarged transparent glass element on the back panel with RGB backlighting that gives you a better view of the device’s internal components.
A new design and improved components
The main change is the use of integrated graphics instead of discrete graphics, which may seem unexpected for a gaming tablet. However, Asus has equipped the device with the new AMD Strix Halo processors, which offer high graphics horsepower.
At the same time, Asus is using the new AMD Strix Halo processors, which offer high graphics horsepower.
ROG Flow Z13 is available in two configurations:
- .
- Ryzen AI Max 390 with 12 CPU cores and 32 GPU cores.
- Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 with 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores.
These chips support heat dissipation up to 120W, and cooling is provided by a redesigned stainless steel system with an evaporative chamber.

Screen and ports
The tablet features a 13-inch touchscreen display with 2560 x 1600 resolution and 180Hz refresh rate, an improvement over the previous model. Ports are provided for connecting accessories:
- Two USB 4.
- One USB-A 3.2 Gen 2.
- HDMI 2.1.
- MicroSD slot with UHS-II support.
- A 3.5mm headphone jack.
The tablet also supports Wi-Fi 7 and has a 5 MP front camera and a 13 MP rear camera.
New features and performance
A keyboard with larger keys and a larger touchpad makes working and gaming more convenient. The ScreenXpert button on the sidebar gives you access to performance settings, window controls and modes of operation right in tablet mode.
The pre-release version of the device was able to test performance in games. At 2.5K resolution and Ultra Quality settings, the tablet delivered a steady 60 frames per second, and up to 80 fps when the graphics settings were reduced. Without power, performance drops, but it’s still decent for integrated graphics.

Who is this tablet for?
ROG Flow Z13 is aimed at those looking for a portable gaming device with powerful hardware. However, the lack of Thunderbolt 5 support limits its compatibility with the new XG Mobile eGPU, which could be a disadvantage for users looking to expand their graphics capabilities.
Whether this tablet can compete with devices like the Steam Deck and other handheld consoles will become clear when it’s officially released in February. But for now, the ROG Flow Z13 is a step forward for the gaming tablet segment, offering a unique combination of power and convenience.
