OnePlus Open: leaked renders

OnePlus Open will be the brand’s first foldable smartphone, and back in June we saw it in some leaked CAD renderings. At the same time, the company itself confirmed the name, but many rumors claimed that its unveiling was delayed from its originally scheduled late August launch to change the screen maker.

Now, it looks like the changes are going to be much more substantial. A new batch of renders of the OnePlus Open have surfaced today, allegedly based on visuals of pre-production samples. As you can see from the side-by-side comparison below, the phone’s aspect ratio when closed has changed dramatically — it now looks more like the Oppo Find N2 than it did in the original renders.

It also appears smaller than before (the scale doesn’t match in the two side-by-side images), as the round camera island seems to take up a lot more space on the back. Nevertheless, it will still be bigger than the Find N2.

The speakers have been moved for better sound and the bezel has also been redesigned. The selfie camera on the internal display has moved from the top left corner in portrait mode to the top right. On the back, the Hasselblad logo is now simply the letter H above what could be the ToF or LiDAR sensor.

The notification slider remains, and the fingerprint sensor is surprisingly (for a clamshell) built into the power button. The back panel has a faux-leather texture, as you can see.

According to other rumors, the Open will feature a 7.8-inch internal and 6.3-inch external screens with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, supplemented with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The main and ultra-wide cameras are expected to feature 48MP sensors, while the telephoto — 64MP. The OnePlus Open is expected to feature a 4,800mAh battery with 67W fast-charging support.
