Huawei Mate 70 Pro design leaked online months before the announcement

The Huawei Mate 60 series of flagship smartphones was announced in August 2023 as part of the Pioneer Program in China. There are already rumors online about Huawei preparing to launch the Mate 70 series, although the official release date has not yet been announced. It is likely that the novelty will appear in August or September this year. A new leaked render published on Weibo shows the front panel design of the Huawei Mate 70 Pro.

Leaked Huawei Mate 70 Pro front panel design
According to a drawing provided by insider Setsuna Digital, the Huawei Mate 70 Pro will retain the same three front openings as the Mate 60 Pro, with a similar layout and diameter. This suggests that the front panel design will remain largely unchanged, but there may be optimizations to the screen bezels to increase the screen-to-body ratio.

Screen improvements
The Mate 70 Pro’s screen promises to deliver a stronger visual experience, remaining the only device on the market with this three-hole design. Huawei has provided a system feature that hides the holes, making the space between them black, like on the «smart island» iPhone.
The Mate 70 Pro’s screen will be the only one with this design.
Front camera and sensors
In comparison, the front-facing Mate 60 Pro has a 13-megapixel ultra-wide selfie camera, a 3D ToF sensor and additional sensors and lasers for 3D face mapping. The Mate 70 Pro is likely to have a similar set of sensors.

Rear panel design and screen options
When it comes to the back panel, the Huawei Mate 70 series is rumored to feature a circular camera module with new design elements to improve recognition and business-like appearance. The series is expected to offer both straight and curved screen options, the former for the standard version and the latter for the Mate 70 Pro and higher end models.

Although an official release date for the Huawei Mate 70 Pro has yet to be announced, leaks give us an idea of what we can expect from the new device. The front panel design, with optimized openings and an improved screen, as well as the series’ traditional high-end sensors and cameras, make the Mate 70 Pro a promising new addition to the smartphone market.
