GeForce NOW service is now available on Steam Deck

Steam Deck just got even more useful: NVIDIA’s full GeForce NOW app is now available on the handheld. It was announced at CES, and now owners can run more than 2,200 games via the cloud – in resolutions up to 4K and at 60 frames per second.

Cloud technology: more graphics, less load

Even if the game is already installed on Steam Deck, there are a number of benefits to using GeForce NOW. Streaming provides support for HDR, DLSS 4, and Reflex in compatible projects, and graphics settings can be cranked to the max without sacrificing performance. Steam Deck itself acts as the screen and controller, with NVIDIA servers taking the brunt of the workload.

+50% battery life

One of the biggest pluses is the dramatic reduction in power consumption. According to NVIDIA, Steam Deck can run up to 50% longer in GeForce NOW mode compared to running the same game locally. Considering that Steam Deck’s battery life has often been criticized, that’s a major improvement.

Access to games that aren’t on Steam Deck

The service opens up access to titles that were previously unavailable on the console. GeForce NOW works with Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Game Pass (PC), Ubisoft, Battle.net and other libraries. This allows you to run even demanding games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Oblivion Remastered, Monster Hunter Wilds, and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 at maximum graphics settings.

You can connect it to your TV and play on the big screen

Steam Deck easily connects to your TV via dock or cable, which means gamers can run cloud-based projects right on the big screen, using their handheld console as a media center.

There is a free plan, but with limitations

Try GeForce NOW for free, but the free version has limitations – long queues and sessions no longer than one hour. There’s a promotion going on right now: a 6-month Performance subscription will cost $30, after which the cost reverts to the standard $50.
