Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 users experienced long load times on launch day

The long-awaited Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 officially released today, but for many players, the launch has been disappointing. Numerous users have complained about unusually long loading screens, especially when the game first launches.
A number of users have complained about the game’s unusually long loading times.
Causes of the problems
The official @MSFS_Support page on the X platform confirmed the problem, stating that it is due to a large number of simultaneous requests to the servers. At peak load, the servers simply can’t handle the incoming connections, which causes long load times.
Servers can’t keep up with the load.
Microsoft has also issued a recommendation for players. If the loading process stops at above 90%, the company advises restarting your computer or console and trying again. If the download doesn’t reach 90%, Microsoft recommends simply waiting for the game to complete the initialization process.

Optimal settings for the game
Flight Simulator 2024 is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S and in the cloud via Game Pass Ultimate. For comfortable play on PC, Microsoft recommends the following minimum system requirements:
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X.
- Video card: Radeon RX 5700 XT with 8GB of video memory.
- Operating memory: 32 GB.
- Free disk space: 50 GB.
These requirements emphasize the resource-intensive nature of the game, which may explain the difficulty on weak systems.

Launch fell short of expectations
The technical alpha test for the PC version was conducted back in October, but judging by user complaints, server issues were not accounted for. For Microsoft, given the scale of the project, such difficulties on launch day might have been predictable. However, players can only wait for the situation to stabilize.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 promises to be one of the most realistic air travel games ever, but the launch leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully the server issues will be resolved soon.
