Insomniac has unveiled a new look at Venom from Spider-Man 2

Insomniac Games has unveiled a new look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 villain Venom. A new screenshot of the character can be seen below from Entertainment Weekly, which spoke to some of the game’s developers ahead of this week’s presentation at Comic-Con.
Insomniac Games has revealed a new look at the character.
Actor Tony Todd, who plays Candyman, will voice the symbiote-eating Venom in the upcoming sequel for PS5. Insomniac creative director Brian Intihar told EW that he put off casting the character for as long as possible because he was afraid of who they could voice. He added: «We knew it would be expected and that people would have a lot of opinions about it».

Luckily for Insomniac, Todd decided to submit an audition tape to appear in «Spider-Man 2». «Everything that we talked about with Venom, —the sense of power, the sense of fear, the sense of overwhelming superiority, so different from Peter, —Tony fully embodied in his performance» — said Insomniac.
And that’s something we’ve been talking about.

Senior Production Designer Jacinda Chu also spoke about the character’s visual design.
One of the challenges we faced throughout production was how much Venom would talk» — she said. I remember in the beginning we did some conceptualizations: «Does Venom have lips? Does he laugh? Does he smile? Does he frown? It’s a fine line between making this creature frightening and intimidating, but at the same time, I think, easily recognizable.
On Thursday at San Diego Comic-Con, Intihar and Chu, along with other developers and key actors, will host a panel about «Spider-Man 2». In May, Insomniac released the first gameplay video of Spider-Man 2, showing off several new features as well as another key villain — the hunter Kraven. Publisher Sony began taking pre-orders for the game last month, and shortly thereafter announced a release date for Spider-Man 2 — October 20, 2023.
