Friday the 13th: The Game will be off the market in December

Friday the 13th: The Game will be off the market at the end of the year, publisher Gun Interactive announced. The asymmetrical horror multiplayer game was released in 2017 and is still popular, even though its dedicated servers were shut down in 2020 (peer-to-peer matches are still possible).

Now, however, Gun has said that the game’s license expires at the end of 2023, which means it will have to pull the game from sale on that date. After that, the game will be playable for at least another year for those who have already purchased it.

The game is still available to play.

To compensate for the game’s limited lifespan, Gun plans to continually lower the price of the game and its DLC until it is delisted. This will be another blow to Friday the 13th fans, after the critically acclaimed mobile game Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle was dropped earlier this year due to «inability to renew the license».

It looks like fans won’t have to do without the game for long, however, because earlier this week Harry Manfredini, the film composer, told Rely on Horror that he’s working on a new Friday the 13th game unrelated to the existing one.
