World’s smallest fingerprint SSD drive unveiled

In the age of mobile technology, compactness and storage security are becoming increasingly important. It is at this intersection that a new product from Twopan has emerged – the Nano SSD, a miniature SSD with USB-C and fingerprint protection. The device is aimed at smartphone users, mobile creators and professionals who need secure and portable storage.
The Nano SSD weighs just 5 grams and measures 20×13×5mm – it can be attached to a keychain or left plugged into a smartphone without removing the case (cases up to 3mm thick are supported). It offers 512GB of storage and 450MB/s read/write speeds with USB 3.1 Gen1.
The device is compatible with a wide range of devices, from iPhone 16 and Android smartphones to iPads, MacBooks, Windows laptops, Steam decks, and even PlayStation 5.
The main feature of the Nano SSD is its built-in fingerprint scanner. It can memorize up to 20 different fingerprints and allows you to instantly unlock access with a single tap-without installing apps or additional software. This makes it a truly plug-and-play device: plug it in, tap it, and you’re done with your files.
The case is made of an aluminum-plastic composite and is IP65 dust- and water-resistant. Twopan claims the device can withstand drops of up to 10 meters. Among other things, the drive supports direct recording of 4K video, such as from the iPhone 16 Pro – without using the device’s internal memory. That’s especially useful for content creators working with heavy video files in the field.
Twopan has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, offering the Nano SSD at a discounted price of $78 (regular price is $119.99). A leather case version is also available for $129.99. Deliveries are expected by the end of June 2025.
If you’ve been looking for an ultra-compact and rugged storage solution, Twopan’s Nano SSD could be the gadget that’s always on hand, yet secure.
