Casio prepares to launch the unusual Pro Trek PRG-69 with an octagonal case

A new Casio Pro Trek watch has surfaced online ahead of its official announcement, standing out with a notably different design from the brand’s usual round cases. The Pro Trek PRG-69 features a dual-layer LCD, an angular octagonal case, and Casio’s signature Triple Sensor technology.

While it doesn’t introduce any groundbreaking tech innovations, the PRG-69 is arguably one of the most distinctive Pro Trek models ever released. It sports a classic digital dual-layer display housed in a rugged eight-sided case, with a design inspired by the PRW-6900 model.

The PRG-69-1 and PRG-69-4 variants have yet to be officially launched by Casio but are already available from the French retailer David et Philly. Both versions share the same specs, differing only in color: the PRG-69-1 is entirely black, while the PRG-69-4 pairs a black dial with a bright orange strap. Despite its visual ties to the PRW-6900, the case is made of bioplastic, which is flame-resistant, providing extra protection from campfire sparks. The strap is crafted from bio-based urethane, which the manufacturer claims offers high comfort during long hikes. The screen is protected by mineral glass.

One standout feature of the PRG-69 is its Duplex dual-layer display. The top layer shows a large compass graphic for easy readability, while the bottom layer displays time and sensor data. Above that, a small matrix display provides the weekday, date, and atmospheric pressure trend without cluttering the main screen.

Inside, the watch is equipped with the familiar Pro Trek Triple Sensor (ABC) suite. Users get a digital compass with 16 directions and two-way calibration, an altimeter measuring from -700 to 10,000 meters with automatic data logging, a barometer that warns of sudden pressure changes, and a thermometer operating between -10 and 60 °C.

True to the Pro Trek line, the PRG-69 includes Tough Solar technology, enabling the battery to recharge from both sunlight and artificial light. However, it lacks Multiband 6 support for automatic time synchronization. The watch measures 52.5 × 46.4 × 14.4 mm, making it slightly larger than the PRW-6900 and PRW-B1000 models.

The Casio Pro Trek PRG-69 is priced at €200. Pre-orders have already opened at David et Philly, with official sales starting on March 20, 2026. More details on international availability and pricing for other regions are expected after Casio’s official announcement.
