LG unveiled the Gram 2026 line of laptops with a focus on lightness, ruggedness and AI

LG has announced a refreshed lineup of Gram 2026 laptops ahead of CES. As before, minimal weight remains a key feature of the series, but this time around the manufacturer has also placed a noticeable emphasis on rugged design and AI-powered features.

One of the main innovations is the Aerominum material — a new magnesium-aluminum alloy developed using technology from the aerospace industry. LG says it reduces the weight of notebooks while increasing their structural rigidity. It is also claimed to improve scratch resistance, and a number of models have been tested for durability to military standards.

Features in the Gram 2026 lineup play a more prominent role. Some models are Microsoft Copilot+ PC compliant and use an approach LG calls «dual AI». It combines local processing on the device with cloud-based capabilities. The proprietary gram chat assistant is powered by the EXAONE 3.5 small language model (sLLM) and is able to function without an internet connection, focusing on everyday tasks, work and creativity.

The gram Link feature, which is responsible for connecting Gram laptops with other devices, has also been updated. It now supports easier file sharing and screen mirroring between laptops and Android and iOS smartphones, as well as LG’s webOS devices, including TVs and monitors.

It’s also been updated to support more convenient file sharing and screen mirroring between laptops and smartphones.

The lineup includes a variety of models: the LG gram Pro AI with 17- and 16-inch screens, the 16-inch gram Pro 360 AI, 14- and 15-inch gram AI models, and gram Book AI.

One of the most notable new products is the North American-exclusive LG gram Pro AI 17 (17Z90UR). LG calls it the lightest 17-inch laptop with discrete graphics. It features an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card and an LCD display with a resolution of 2560 × 1600, while its body dimensions are closer to 16-inch models. Equally impressive is the 16-inch gram Pro AI, which weighs just 1,199 grams but has a 77Wh battery and a 2,880 × 1,800 resolution OLED display.

The new LG Gram series will be unveiled at CES 2026, which kicks off on January 6, with wider availability of the laptops expected shortly after the show.
