Philips launches Evnia 27M2N5500XD gaming monitor with refresh rates up to 1000 Hz

Philips has unveiled its new gaming monitor, the Evnia 27M2N5500XD, currently launching in China with full specs revealed for one of the fastest models on the market. The standout feature is its insanely high refresh rate-up to 540 Hz at QHD (2560×1440) resolution, and an extreme 1000 Hz in a special reduced-resolution mode. This pushes it past most modern OLED displays in speed, though with some trade-offs.

At the heart of the Evnia 27M2N5500XD is an upgraded TCL CSOT IPS panel, the HFS Shoot type-the same panel used in the AOC AGON AGP277QK. The 27-inch screen offers native 2560 × 1440 resolution, is certified for VESA DisplayHDR 400, and hits a peak brightness of 500 nits in HDR and 350 nits in SDR. Philips claims a contrast ratio of 2000:1, with color coverage hitting 96% DCI-P3, 100% sRGB, and 94% Adobe RGB.

The monitor’s headline feature is its flexible refresh rate modes. In standard QHD mode, it can be overclocked up to 540 Hz. Dropping the resolution down to HD (1280 × 720) unlocks a staggering 1000 Hz refresh rate. Response times are equally impressive, rated at 1 ms normally and as low as 0.3 ms with Philips’ Smart MBR (Motion Blur Reduction) enabled. It also supports adaptive sync via FreeSync VRR for smoother gameplay.

Philips has packed in gamer-centric features like Smart Sniper, Shadow Boost, and Smart Crosshair. These tech tweaks enhance visibility in dark scenes and improve aiming precision, giving competitive players a potential edge.

Connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1 with a bandwidth of 80 Gbps, HDMI 2.1 running at 48 Gbps, plus a headphone audio out. The monitor comes with an ergonomic stand offering height, tilt, swivel adjustments, and can rotate into portrait mode.

The Evnia 27M2N5500XD is already available in China, with a global rollout expected later this year. Pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
