Google expands AirDrop support in Quick Share to Pixel 9 smartphones
Google is steadily evolving its Quick Share file-sharing feature. After bringing AirDrop compatibility to the Pixel 10 series last year-making file transfers between Android devices and iPhones much smoother-the company is now rolling out that capability to more models.
In an official announcement on X, Google confirmed that the Pixel 9 lineup will receive AirDrop support via Quick Share. Over the coming days, the feature will become available on the base Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Once updated, Pixel 9 users will be able to send files directly to iPhone owners with Quick Share. This functionality is expected to be activated either through a server-side update or as part of a system software update.
For those not using Pixel phones, Google also has good news. The company has previously announced plans to extend Quick Share’s AirDrop compatibility to other Android devices beyond just the Pixel series in the future.
