Avowed adds new game plus mode and three new races
A year after launching on Xbox Series X/S and PC, Avowed just received a massive 2.0 update packed with features fans have been clamoring for.
The biggest highlight is the new Game Plus mode, which lets you replay the game and try out different story choices without having to start from scratch or create a new character.
According to Obsidian Entertainment, when you start New Game Plus, you keep all unlocked abilities except for the “divine” skills that unlock as you progress in the story. You also carry over all spent attribute points, unique weapons and armor (which will be reset to level one), equipped regular items, and a variety of other progress elements.
To keep the challenge fresh, enemy stats scale up in New Game Plus, with foes gaining extra elemental or physical modifiers to keep you on your toes.
Since Avowed wasn’t originally designed with New Game Plus in mind, players who’ve already finished the story will need to load a save from the late game and complete it again. This creates a special final save file that can then be used to launch the new mode.
Besides New Game Plus, the update adds three new playable races to the existing humans and elves: dwarves, orlans, and aumaua. It also introduces customizable difficulty modifiers, a new weapon type-the battle staff-plus a photo mode and various quality-of-life improvements.
